"A greatspear said to be one of the three legendary spears of Japan. The spear bears no inscription, but the bold engraving in the blade tip's fuller of the Buddhist god Acala in dragon form suggests the work of a master craftsman. Despite its magnificence as a former royal treasure, stories tell that it was once given to a high-ranking court official. The spear passed from the Ashikaga Shogunate to the Oda and Toyotomi clans in turn, to Fukushima Masanori, and finally to Mori Tomonobu, retainer to the Kuroda clan. Tomonobu actually won the spear from Masanori in a drinking game, an incident that was later recorded in a famous song."
