  • For all bosses fights, optimised the build against the bosses (anti fire in this case - water etc...) and luck to farm for good gears. It's very useful early game to farm him for gears and materials since this guy drop half of his loots as purple at 100+ luck and almost the entire armour set.

Strategy 1 (Melee)

Retreating Spear strategy

This makes the fight extremely simple with a decent spear or enough patience. Simply keep the spear in mid stance and move away from the boss being careful of not getting stuck against a wall periodicaly using the strong attack to poke him when he gets close enough. This will stagger him stoping whatever animation he is in the middle of keeping you seafe from his attak. the strong poke from the spear outranges all of his attacks and he can only armor through it if he uses his summon spirit attack in which case you must doge to the sides. if he doges the spear poke just doge backwards and keep poking. if he manages to get a hit on you imidiately block and backstep after the next blocked hit.

Other Strategies:

Shoot the guy in the head with your best bullet for extra damage and a heavy stab (not very noble but who care).

A spear is a great strategy in this battle, specifically in high stance. Conserve your ki so that you have enough ready to dodge in the event of missing. Using the spearfall attack will knock him down. When knocked down a ground attack will do more damage. Repeat this process and he will be defeated. If you lack the skill to bring him down it will be a tougher slog. It may be best to return when the skill is reserved.

He can be infinitely "stun" locked with axe mid stance quick attack, with optional skill "living water: man". Simple do the 3 quick attack chain, dodge to him (recovering ki with living water skill), and repeat. He will block some attack, but axe does not bounce back when hitting a block so keep going. When he uses the heavy stance, a spear and poke him and dash to close to unleash a couple of quick attacks.

Yokai Lore / History

Ii Naomasa was a general under Tokugawa Ieyasu, known for being verse in the finer arts of war. He was counted among the Four Celestial Kings whose contributions to the Tokugawa clan were most spectacular. Naomasa first entered Ieyasu's service as a page at the battle of Nagashino, which triggered the demise of the Takeda clan. Despite his gentle demeanor, youthful good looks, his body was covered in countless battle scars, revealing the intensity of his efforts on the battlefield.

Naomasa hired a unit  of Takeda retainers who were feared for their blood red armor and reorganized them as "Ii Red's." Naomasa led them personally. The Red's proved their mettle across Japan, with Naomasa wearing a horned helmet and bringing such ferocity to  every confrontation that he became known as the Red Oni.

When Naomasa was two, his father was suspected of plotting against Imagawa clan and executed. It was Ii Naotora who took in and raised Naomasa after that. Naotora was a crafty woman and a master negotiator who rescued the Ii clan from its precarious situation and earned the sincere trust of her retainers. After her death, Naomasa inherited her guardian spirit, a Fire Tiger.

Super easy/lame/cheese strat (AI exploit?): Low stance fonfa, move towards and quick attack, the first attack will almost always hit as long as you pause just slightly (enough to start moving after being blocked) before attacking again, back off when low on ki and repeat. Not the fastest win, but nearly effortless to do without taking damage.
This might work with other weapons/stances (Kusa/Low/Strong for example, as revenant AIs struggle with it)..

Use parry skills if you have them. He's very easy to parry and with critical damage buffs you can kill him very quickly.
