Kappa is an Enemy in Nioh.

Enemy Description

Kappa"Kappa are diminutive yokai with green skin, a dish-like depression on their heads, and a turtle-like shell on their back. They generally lurk underwater, but they often emerge onto dry land as well. In the water Kappa are faster than fish, and they are known to commit evils like seizing children playing in rivers by the leg and dragging them under, or stealing the "shiri-kodama" soul from people's behinds and leaving them listless shells of their former self."

"Cowardly by nature, Kappa flee underwater at the first sign of danger. They are rumored to have a taste for cucumbers, and to wither and die if the water in the "dish" on their head dries up. Other legends say that a treasure lies concealed inside their shells and can be claimed if the Kappa is slain before it can escape."

If this guy manages to break your ki and stuns you he literally will grab your nuts and steal some amrita. What a little troll!

Best part to hit is the back. Break the shell crystals for some Amrita. Extra hits after its shell is broken will just give you tiny scraps of amrita. Head shots don't seem to do extra damage.

You can chip at it with a dash attack even if it is still running. Just keep chasing then dash hit when u get close. If you are getting near a wall, best not to do this. When the kappa tries to jump over you; you can ground execute it when it lands or combo it if you mess that up. You need some stamina conservation for this. I recommend a cannon shot or a guardian spirit amulet as a surprise hit. Storm kunai is also great if it is running away. The aoe might get it

They have a nasty habit of running away and into the path of other yokai. Having them down without ammunition can be extremely frustrating. The easiest method I've found is to chase it to a cor then use high stance axe to counter it trying to jump over your head
