Maeda is a Clan in Nioh.
Clan Analysis
The Maeda clan served the Oda clan and then later took control of Noto and Kaga provinces (present-day Ishikawa prefecture). Their best-known leader was Maeda Toshiie.
In his youth, Toshiie was known as "The Spear". He put his martial prowess to work on the side of Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, rising to become one of the Toyotomi clan's five great advisors once their conquest of the nation was complete. After the death of Hideyoshi, he supported Hideyori's authority and was furious at Tokugawa Ieyasu's impudence. Toshiie's death left the remaining generals without a centre to rally around, spurring vicious factional squabbles among the Toyotomi clan's advisors.
The family crest, "Kaga-umebachi", depicts the flowers of the plum tree, beloved by the Maeda clan's founder Sugawara no Michizane. The blossom's centre is ringed by tiny swords.

Notes
- Despite the name, Yokai Close Combat Attack (Sword) improves ALL damage dealt to yokai regardless of weapon as long as a katana is equipped in either slot. The bonus stacks, so equipping two katanas provides an 8% bonus.
- Note that when grappling an enemy, the defence penalty is only applied after the grapple, and not during.
