Strategy 1 (Melee)

Mid stance is a good choice against this boss. Be defensive and wait until he misses an attack and then try a heavy attack against him, which will hurt and deplete his ki. Once his ki drops low, go on the offensive and press the attack. When his ki has drained and he falls, hit him with a ground attack for a good bit of damage. Continue this process until he is defeated.

Yokai Lore / History

Marume Nagayoshi was a military tactician based in Kyushu. Other names he was known by include "Marume Kurando" and "Tessai." He learned swordsmanship from Kamiisumi Nobutsuna, master of the Shinkage style, and was so prized by Nobutsuna as a pupil that he assisted his master in demonstrating the style before the shogun, Ashikaga Yoshiteru. He later became a roaming warrior, inventing his own Taisha school of swordsmanship and acting as a councelor to the Sagara clan and others.

The Taisha school is a practical technique that does not rely fixed forms. It encompasses not only weapons like swords, spears, and axes, but also horseriding, stealth, and foreign wrestling. Known as the greatest style under heaven, it has gathered many adherents from around Kyushu. Even Tachibana Muneshige is a student of the style.

The Taisha school is particularly popular among generals in Bizen province (today's Saga and Nagasaki prefecture), where Nagayoshi went to teach the style himself. Because it encompasses all kinds of weapon, the school is popular not only among warriors but also townspeople and farmers at every level of society throughout Kyushu.

This battle is fairly simple. You don't really need a tutorial. He doesn't have much special moves. It's like fighting a melee only revenant. Start with an attack combo until he blocks or be near enough to trigger his swing, then keep moving back, (dodge if you miscalculate, but it will cost excess stamina). He will hit air and Loose stamina. Keep pressure once his stamina is low, then you can tire him or knock him down. Do critical damage, repeat. His attack range is more or less the same as the players, so you can easily keep away from his blade and counter fast.
