Katakura Shigenaga is a Boss in Nioh.
Katakura Shigenaga was a general under Date Masamune and was the son of Masamune's trusted advisor, Katakura Kagetsuna, who was also known as Kojuro. After coming of age, Shigenaga was not able to join the Toyotomi military's activities, instead participating in his first battle during the campaign to take Shiroishi Castle (located in present—day southern Miyagi prefecture). Situated on the border of the Aizu region (present—day western Fukushima prefecture), the territory once belonged to the Date. When the ruler of Aizu, Uesugi Kagekatsu, rebelled against Tokugawa leyasu, Date retainers such as Shigenaga and his father joined leyasu's side and helped capture Shiroishi Castle. After a protracted battle, the Uesugi forces incurred heavy losses, including the defeat of Naoe Kanetsugu, and were forced to abandon pursuit of leyasu, who was advancing west towards Sekigahara. This battle earned Shigenaga the respect of Masamune. However, his father came down with a sudden illness, and while Shigenaga later went on to admirably serve Masamune in place of his father, he was unable to live up to the ability and experience of the famed Kojuro.

Combat Information
- Katakura is a user of ninjitsu, so he will try throwing bombs, knives and various objects on the ground that will slow you down if you step over them. You should make sure to clear out the towers before the boss arena at least once. You will receive a trophy for doing so and another one for listening to Katakura's speech before attacking him. The main benefit of clearing out the towers is so that none of the soldiers try to shoot at you during the boss fight. While the fight is still possible with rifles and cannons being shot at you, it can br very hectic and make attacking Katakura himself difficult.
