Torii is a Clan in Nioh.
The Torii clan served as retainers to the Tokugawa for generations before being granted their domain in Shimosa province (today's Northern Chiba prefecture). Their best-known leader was Torii Mototada.
Mototada served Tokugawa Ieyasu well while still a vassal of the Imagawa clan and acquitted himself well in clashes with the Takeda clan like the Battles of Mikatagahara and Nagashino. He remained loyal even after Ieyasu's surrender to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, refusing to put aside his pride as a Mikawa warrior even when Hideyoshi tried to entice him with the offer of a higher rank
The family crest, (Take-ni-yadori-suzume), depicts two sparrows in a bamboo thicket and is one of various bird-related crests descended from the emblem of Kumano Gongen Shrine in Kii province (Wakayama). The Torii clan's history as shrine priests in ancient times, and the relative wealth this had given them, is said to have been what allowed them to help Ieyasu when he was a hostage.
