Wreathed in Flame

As with the previous Sub Mission 1: Death to Bandits, you'll start this mission out on the beach by the ship where you fought the Onryoki. This time, night has fallen, and a Shrine is off to the left - and any Kodama you've rescued in the Kyushu Region will be available to you.

Taking stock of your surroundings, the way into the village via the main beach gate is wreathed in flames, with an archer between the watchtowers. Off to the side of the ship, you can look behind a large rock in the shallows to find a corpse holding a Water Amulet. If you look to the right of the flaming barrier for the path to the cave, A Dweller guards a corpse on the path holding a Spirit Stone, and inside the cave, a Fiend waits in a Yokai Realm, and guards a body holding 2 Signpost Talisman and a Jumonji Spear.

Since you can't get in the front, head left to travel up the path sloping up around the village and through the open gate. From here, you can spot a Fiend patrolling the upper path on the left going towards the Manor gate (which is locked - but a corpse behind a far tree holds a Travel Amulet).

Given the fires that litter the main roads here, drop down onto the building rooftops from the upper path, and take out a Dweller posted here to spot a Wheelmonk hurtling up and down the road - the first of your three targets. This yokai can deal a lot of fire damage in its mad spinning, or when its face turns to breathe fire - but when it does, its upside down face is weak to a counter attack.

Once its dead, continue down the road being mindful of an ambush on the right by a Skeleton Warrior, and from an archer up high as you make your left turn - duck back and counter snipe to proceed up the ladder. If you want, you can check around behind the house with the ladder to spot a corpse holding some Horoku-damas (and the Dweller waiting to climb up when you do), and around the other house, check the corners to find a body holding a Spirit Iron Chunk.

Up on the roofs, head to the next section and note the Fiend on the roof (ignore him since he can't get you either). Move across the bridges to the home with the ladder in the middle where a Dweller will emerge. Kill it, then snipe the other Dweller on the bridge just past you. Before going down, check around the roof for a corpse holding Sacred Water - and note the Shrine in the canyon below - if you so chose to drop down there instead.

There's another Wheelmonk cruising the streets down here, but he's got backup in the form of a patrolling Fiend. You may wish to wait until the Fiend is farther up before baiting the Wheelmonk into a fight. As before, lure the Wheelmonk into trying to breath fire before darting around to hit the face on the other side, which should stun him. Be sure to check the houses here, as the far house has a large chest that holds a Black Steel Axe, Hanaya Arrows, and a Shinobi Box.

With two of the three fire-ring yokais down, it's time to make for the watchtower. Be sure to check around the corner for a Dweller hiding behind some boxes guarding a body that holds rare Shingiku Medicine. Climb up the watchtower and kick off the Skeleton Archer, then drop down and look left to spot a Dweller trying to climb up that you can kick back into the fires below.

Cross to the long row of buildings and look between fires to find a corpse holding some Arrows and a Longbow, then continue on to face the Fiend that patrols the roofs ahead. Be sure to kick down the ladder on the left before entering the next area of the village, and watch for a Skeleton Warrior who will try and ambush you up here if you move in too quickly.

Your final target is running amok in the streets - but let's clear the rooftops before you jump down. There's a few Dwellers on the bridges, and if you get close to some of the fires, some pesky Oni-bi may spawn. These floating heads have a nasty habit of darting out of range to spit fire at you - so snipe them or charge them if you can. Now all that's left is to pick your moment to jump from the rooftops to pin the Wheelmonk down, and use the same tactics as before to get around behind it and deal the finishing blow.

With all three Wheelmonks dead, the mission will be over - but you can still look around the rest of the village if you missed any loot - like the large chest in the house near the wall of fire that holds a Mino-Den Dual Uchigatana, Summoner's Candle, and Whetstone.
