Yokai Country is a Mission in Nioh. This Mission was added with the Dragon of the North DLC.

"Since he departed for Tono in Date territory, all traces of Hanzo have seemingly dried up. We must go after him before the trail vanishes completely. But before we proceed, you should understand that Tono is known to be home to various Yokai. I admit that it is my first time to visit there, but already the air is thick with a foreboding sense of familiarity."

This area becomes available once the main game has been completed, if the DLC, Dragon of the North has been purchased and installed. You can select to go to Tohoku Region from the main map, and a cutscene featuring the return of Nekomata will play. He tells you that Hanzo is in danger, having vanished on the northern region, and that you should head that way to find him.

You'll begin the mission on the mountain pass, activate the nearest Shrine and proceed further. To the right will be a deadend with amrita memories. To the left will be a little passage, you can flank some enemies by taking that pass. Kill the enemies and turn right when you reach second archway and there will be a chest. Go further to the right of archway and kill the dual swords enemy. Drop down and turn right to find an NPC revenant. Go upstairs and you will face a new yokai - Rokurokubi. He is capable of inflicting burn and poison debuffs, if you will stay close for too long he will do a grapple move which does a decent amount of damage. After killing Rokurokubi, open the gates and proceed further until the next Shrine.

Door next to the Shrine is closed from behind but you will open it soon. Turn back and go further, you will face two enemies: one with a spear and one with a gun. After dealing with enemies you will find a small lake and new Yokai enemy - Red Kappa. They are much like ordinary kappas but with red skin and more aggressive. They will throw a paralysing bombs at you so be careful. In the middle of the lake is a chest. Drop down to the lower part of the lake. You will face a small group of Red Kappas but beware, there's two Lesser Umi-bozu nearby. You will find and Yokai Realm fog, it is a large Red Kappa. Next to the fog is a hot spring. Go back to upper part of the lake and proceed further until you find a little cliff. You will find a single Karakasa Umbrella, deal with it and go to the other side of a cliff and kick the tree down, it will save you some time later if you will have to walk through the lake again. Turn back and proceed through the lake. Beware of Lesser Umi-bozu next to amrita memories. Go further and trigger the Yokai fog, you will have to fight two Red Kappas and water Onyudo. After dealing with them, go through the archway to find the next Shrine.

To the right of the Shrine is amrita memories. Take a small passage to the left of a Shrine. You will face another Rokurokubi, then go around the tree but becareful, there's another Rokurokubi in the small alcove to the left of the tree, as well as behind it. Nearby is a cliff leading to the lower part of the lake, which we already cleared. Go further to the small forest. There's two enemies, on of them is Rokurokubi, and third enemy with cannon hiding in a small alcove to the left. After dealing with them find a small passage on the left side of the forest, there's a tree that you can kick down to open a shortcut which will save you a lot of time later if you die. Near the amrita memories at the back of the forest is another Rokurokubi. Take a path to the left but be careful, there's Onyudo that will throw a rock at you. After dealing with Onyudo open a shortcut to the previous Shrine and go inside a cave. There are two enemies, one that is roaming the cave is Rokurokubi. Deal with them and proceed through the cave to find a small castle. Take the upper path first to deal with Rokurokubi there. The Yokai fog near the bridge is the new Yokai - Namahage. It is a tough enemy to deal with, try to use a low stance and always move and dodge his attacks but be careful, he has a grapple move. Cross the bridge to find the next Shrine.

Doot nearby is closed from behind. Go the left and you will find a barn. You can either deal with the enemies (one in front of the barn and another is hiding inside) or go around the barn and ambush them. Enter the house through a barn, beware of a Rokurokubi laying on the ground. Namahage hiding behind a door next to Rokurokubi. Exit the house and turn back immediately, there's another door you can slash through. Walk through that door to find a chest. Go back the way you came and go around the house, you will find another chest. Proceed further, you will find amrita memories and stairs next to it. Take the stairs to find two more chests, the big one contains Mujina. Next large staircase leading to the shortcut that is closed at the moment. Beware of a gunner up the watchtower. To the right (between he towers) is a shortcut to the Shrine, but beware of a Yokai fog that is Namahage. Go further but watch for the Namahage hiding in a barn to the left. House wall next to the watchtower is Nurikabe. You can use a gesture or kill it to open a secret passage that will allow you to walk around three Namahage and skip the fight. Climb the ladder down, go further and enter a small cave. Beware of a Rokurokubi hiding inside. Climb up the ladder, go around the fence and climb the first watchtower you find. There's Namahage hiding behind the boxes and Rokurokubi to the right. Proceed through the structure but beware of a gunner hiding behind yet another pile of boxes. Cross the bridge, there's a Yokai fog (Namahage). Be careful, there's a gunner up the ladder that will try to shoot you. After dealing with Namahage, climb the ladder and enter a small house, there's a chest inside. Climb another ladder down and go to the left around the house. There's a break in a fence where you can kick the ladder down to open a shortcut. Enter the house, there's Karakasa Umbrella and Namahage inside. After dealing with them exit the house and open the gates. It is a shortcut which allows you to skip the entire castle and go straight to a boss fight. Go upstair and open the gate to fight the boss of this mission - Date Shigezane.
