The Blacksmith in Nioh is where players can buy, sell, improve and Craft WeaponsArmor and Items. Most of it is unlocked with additional Smithing Texts that can be found as missions rewards or rare enemy drops. The Blacksmith is available on the world view screen that you access between Missions. A brief explanation of each can be found below, along with more complete explanations found on corresponding pages.

Used to purchase or sell Weapons and Armor for Gold.

Used to craft Weapons, Armor and Tools from Smithing Materials found in Missions or from Disassembling them.

Used to raise the level of any Weapon or piece of Armor to the level of another. Used to transfer one special ability from a weapon to another.

Used to change the visual appearance of a Weapon or Armor to that of another.

Use Spirit Iron Chunks to alter passives on Weapons or Armor. The new effect is randomly chosen from a specific pool.

Used to salvage Smithing Materials from unwanted Weapons and Armor.

Senji Tome is the blacksmith and she will occasionally send you on Sub Missions for things she needs which will in turn unlock further choices within her services. Furthermore, by making use of her services you will unlock Patronage levels that will result in some perks when using her services. They are as follows:

After unlocking the Tokai Region (4th region) and completing the mission Memories of Death-Lilies the mission The Trail of the Master becomes unlocked.  Completing the mission trail of the master unlocks the legendary blacksmith "Senji Muramasa". This makes several new Patronage levels available from both Senji Tome and Muramasa.

Seriously don't know why is there a need for blacksmith when better weapons keep dropping from enemies.... unless you are at max level. That's why such random stats system from old RPG concept needs to go.

Anyone know at what point the certain patronage levels unlock? Currently on 17/17 for sell price markup but the wiki says it goes to 20? On the Omi region now.

You can also get the 'Ebony Armor' Smithing Text dropped by 'Obsidian Samurai' in 'Samurai from Sawayama' mission in Omi region

          • Anonymous

You can also get the 'Warrior of the West Bow' Smithing Text dropped by 'Tachibana Muneshige' in 'An Invitation From the Warrior of the West' mission in Kyushu Region (probably also in The Two Kings mission)

The smithing text for the swords for the Sparrow whatever set drop from Bovine Demon's. And the bellowing tenryu smithing text drops from Tome's great (not sure how great exactly) grandfather in that one mini rush mission.

As of 1.06 if Muramasa has been found, talking to Tome repeatedly (just mash X) can reward patronage points over and over. Sometimes it'll take 20 seconds, sometimes it'll take a minute or two but the points will come. Easiest way to get the trophy instead of spending 20+ million gold to unlock them naturally.

don't forget to talk to tome and muramasa, every once in a while when the exclamation mark shows up indicating new points have been added, you can talk to them and they'll ask you questions. you reply and you have a shot at getting additional patronage points. i've gotten 10 points on a single well answered question before.

Also, it should be noted that once you locate Senji Muramasa, Tome's grandfather, he also has patronage perks. The same points you use with Tome can be used with him, so IMO it's best to save them up for when you find him; since he has a perk to reduce the cost of soul forging. Just a little FYI.

Senji Muramasa, Senji Tome's grandpa, is found in sub mission "The Trail of the Master" in Region 4 Tokai. If you go in be prepared to fight a Flying Bolt and Raven Tengu at the same time as the boss for this misson.

I am going insane trying to find anyone else who has had this happen. When I talked to the blacksmith she asked me if I wanted to meet the "Legendary Blacksmith Muramasa" and I said yes. She then told me that she doesn't know where he is and asked me to find him. I've looked but just can't find him but nobody else on any site I've checked has even mentioned this so I am going crazy. Has anyone else had this happen?

I beat the first boss and saw a message that Blacksmith and something else were available (co-op maybe?), but I see no way on the map screen or at a shrine to actually smith anything? Do I need to start the second main mission?
