Moon Charm Kabuto Description

"This helm is said to have belonged to Katakura Kagetsuna, also known as Kojuro the Wise, who served as an adviser to Date Masamune. It passed to Kagetsuna's son Shigenaga along with a set of armor. The helm is made from 32 metal plates decorated with gold leaf and features a large neck protector. The front crest features both a protective charm from the deity Atago Gongen and an image of the moon in its first quarter. Atago Gongen, a war god from Kyoto, is said to rule over thunder, and this helm's good-luck charm is considered sacred by samurai families for its miraclous powers. The crescent shape of the moon motif is said to represent a bow, and is thus symbolic of heroism."
