Onmyo Magic Information

 

The Onmyo Mage harnesses the balance of yin and yang to power his magic. Master this balance and the five elements, and you shall fear no man or yokai.

Onmyo Magic are the elemental and spiritual based arts such as Talismans, and each individual skill is known as a Jutsu. Each Jutsu has a cost that goes towards your Onmyo capacity. You may only equip jutsus that have a total cost equal or lesser than your Ninjutsu capacity.

Jutsus are unlocked from the Learn Skills screen. Onmyo Magic are learned from the Onmyo Magic Skills section and cost Onmyo Magic Skill Points to learn.

Once learned, Jutsus are readied from Shrines.

 

 

Onmyo Magic Skills

 All Jutsus with multiple ranks allow for more of the item to be carried, this is done by equipping the new ranks in addition to the previous ranks in the ready Jutsu screen at the shrine.

Talisman Kekkai I Lets you ready 2 kekkai talismans. Creates a compact barrier that purges Yokai Realm pollution and enhances Ki recovery speed. 5 Novice 2 Jutsu N/A
Oasis Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 2 Oasis Talismans. Using them causes allies in range to gradually recover health (life). 6 Adept 3 Jutsu Talisman Kekkai I
Talisman: Earthfolding Lets you ready 1 Earthfolding Talisman. Instantly transports you to the last shrine  where you prayed. 8 Veteran 8 Jutsu Oasis Talisman: I
Lifeseal Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 3 Lifeseal Talismans. Using them reduces the enemy's ability to recover Ki. 5 Novice 2 Jutsu N/A
Weakness Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 3 Weakness Talilsmans. Using them reduces enemy defense power. 5 Adept 1 Jutsu Lifeseal Talisman: I
Devigorate Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 3 Devigorate Talismans. Using them reduces enemy attack power. 5 Novice 1 Jutsu Lifeseal Talisman: I
Talisman: Sloth I Lets you ready 2 sloth talismans. Greaty reduces the movement speed of your enemy. 5 Adept 1 Jutsu Devigorate Talisman: I
Soul Release Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 1 Soul Release Talisman. Reduces the Familiarity of your equipped weapons to zero, transforming it into blades of light that strike your enemies. Cannot be used if Familiarity is less than 400. 6 Veteran 5 Jutsu N/A
Resistance Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 5 Resistance Talismans. Using them raises your resistance to poison and paralysis. 3 Novice 1 Jutsu N/A
Steel Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 3 Steel Talismans. Using them raises your defense. 3 Adept 1 Jutsu Resistance Talisman: I
Carnage Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 3 Caranage Talismans. Using them reduces your defense, but raises your attack. 3 Veteran 1 Jutsu Steel Talisman: I
Protection Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 1 Protection Talismans. Using them neutralizes a set amount of received damage. 5 Adept 3 Jutsu Steel Talisman: I
Rejuvenation Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 2 Rejuvenation Talismans. Using them gradually recovers your health (life). 5 Veteran 3 Jutsu Protection Talisman: I
Divination Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 2 Divination Talismans. Using them strengthens your compass and increases your detection capabilities. 3 Novice 1 Jutsu N/A
Pleiades Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 2 Pleiades Talismans. Using them increases the multiplier for your Amrita gauge. 5 Adept 2 Jutsu Divination Talisman: I
Extraction Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 2 Extraction Talismans. Using them causes Amrita to appear when your attacks hit. 5 Veteran 2 Jutsu Pleiades Talisman: I
Shadowround Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 3 Shadowround Talismans. Using them makes it so that a certain percent of your arrows and other projectiles do not disappear when used. 5 Adept 2 Jutsu N/A
Luckbringer Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 2 Luckbringer Talismans. Using them makes it easier to find rare items. 5 Veteran 1 Jutsu Shadowround Talisman: I
Wealthbringer Talisman: I Allows you to prepare 2 Wealthbringer Talismans. Using them raises the amount of gold you obtain. 5 Adept 1 Jutsu Shadowround Talisman: I

      Magic Mystc Arts Unlocks in Region 6 after completing the "A greater Harmony" Dojo mission, which is unlocked when you complete " A Mountain of Remorse" (Level 124 mission).

        Anyone know what mission it is to unlock this Magic? Or how late in the game? I am level 80 and still don't have this skill unlocked.

          Missing "shot talismans" they are unlcoked after the 3rd main mission. Then complete the mission with the NPC you meet in that mission to teach you how to use them. Each one of the Onmyo Magic Dojo quests unlocks new types.

            I can't find the answer anywhere yet, so does anyone know what elements are stronger or weaker against what other elements yet? Water seems good against fire-based enemies, and the wiki says that fire is somehow good against the water-based umi-bozu, and lightning is very effective against the sentry enemies (stone warriors), so where's the pattern? All I've found is that if you use an element of the same type as the yoki you're fighting it either does no damage or miniscule damage. I got a kusarigama with earth damage and the earth damage does not affect the nurikabe, wall enemies, whatsoever. I thought maybe if you use the opposite element it is especially effective, but there are FIVE elements. If water and fire are opposites, and so are lightning and earth, what's the opposite of wind?

              As a lover of Japanese folklore, Yokai, and games such as OTOGI being some of my favorites. This Dark Souls type atmosphere and combat married with traditional Japanese mysticism and folklore is almost too flawless a dream come true; the alpha gave me a world like no other. So much homework has been put into the lore, from actual weapon smiths to exact replicas and romaticized versions of their weapons. This will be the sleeper hit of 2016-17.
