Ninjutsu Information

Ninjutsu in Nioh affects the Ninja Skills you can use through out the game and is affected by Dexterity.

Ninjutsu are the weapon based arts such as Shuriken and Powders, and each individual skill is known as a Jutsu. Each Jutsu has a cost that goes towards your Ninjutsu capacity. You may only equip jutsus that have a total cost equal or lesser than your Ninjutsu capacity.

Jutsus are unlocked from the Learn Skills screen. Ninjutsu are learned from the Ninja Skills section and cost Ninja Skill Points to learn and Onmyo Magic are learned from the Onmyo Magic Skills section and cost Onmyo Magic Skill Points to learn.

Once learned, Jutsus are readied from Shrines.

Jutsus don't cost Ki to use, nor do they impede Ki recovery. This means they can play a part in just about any playstyle.

All Jutsu with multiple ranks allow for more of the item to be carried, this is done by equipping the new ranks in addition to the previous ranks in the ready Jutsu screen at the shrine.

Once you complete the right missions and can purchase the upper tiers of the perks, like shuriken II, they act like you've bought a copy of the original perk. So you can equip both shuriken I and shuriken II to have 14 shuriken at once that replenish whenever you rest at a shrine. This makes the ninjutsu that aren't great because you only get a small amount or don't last long a lot more viable if you invest in the higher tiers.

To increase your ninjutsu points and capacity, you need to level up dexterity. However, many skills will be off limits until you complete the Way of the Ninja missions with Hattori Hanzo in each region after beating the main missions of each. Each one completed unlocks the ability to purchase more ninjutsu. It's also worth mentioning you can prepare more ninjutsu than your quick slots have room for, they'll just be waiting to be equipped in your inventory. You can tell it's a ninjutsu that hasn't been equipped yet because it will be outlined in green and have green inventory numbers.
All this said, the ninjutsu are REALLY situational. When you get into a situation where they're good to have you'll be glad you have them, but most of the time you'll just be using your regular old weapons instead. The ninjutsu I use the most are shuriken and kunai to get the attention of one enemy at a time in a crowd, the catwalk scroll for help sneaking around and behind enemies for easy damage, and the makibishi are really good against human enemies and bosses. Other than that I hardly use the others I prepare at shrines except for the anti toxin pills, which are great to have in certain levels. Most others are either too situational or don't last long enough for general use.

I just got it, I have been excited to get it early
