Red Kappa Kabuto Description

"A kawari-kabuto--a family of helmets featuring fantastical designs--based on a red kappa's head. Not much is known about the materials used to make it. Unlike a regular kappa known in Japan, kappa in the Tono area of Oshu (present-day central Iwate prefecture) and said to have red skin. Hiding in their pools, the creatures are known to drag humans and horses into the water, and play tricks on young women. However, despite their mischievous nature, they are also known to assist humans, and even help put out temple fires. Some say kappa are servants of water gods or dragon gods, and as such the helmet protects its wearer with a mysterious invisible power."
