Rokuji-myogo Kabuto Description
"This "kawari-kabuto" --a helmet adorned with fantastical designs--was worn by Mori Ranmaru, page to Oda Nobunaga. This black Nanban helm features a front crest with a relief of a six-character ("rokuji") name for Buddha ("myogo"). The phrase reads "na-mu-a-mi-da-butsu" and is recited to show one's deep devotion to Buddha. Chanting this prayer is thougth to guarantee a safe passge to Paradise after death, and its inclusion on a helmet signifies the wearer is ready to die in battle."
