Mikazuki Munechika Description
"One of the five greatest swords of Japan, forged during the Heian period by the master swordsmith Sanjo Kokaji Munechika. The sword is named for the pattern in the folds of steel that resembles many crescent moons, or "mikazuki" in Japanese. It is said to be the most beatiful of the five great swords. The crescent moon is considered a good omen both for the peace and welfare of a nation due to its association with the Buddhist deity Myoken. Aside from its beauty, this sword was treasured by the rulers of the time for its ability to drive evil spirits from the land."
