One-Eyed Oni is an Enemy in Nioh.

Enemy Description

"Hitotsume Onia gigantic Oni with a single eye in the center of its face. Oni with two eyes were originally human or at least born of ugly human passions in some way. One-eyed Oni, however, are said to be the wild, bestial side of mountain gods and local spirits personified."

"Apparently, these yokai aren't smart enough to use weapons other than their fists or great rocks which they throw at their victims. However, as they are more than twice as large as a person, their sheer physical strength allows them to smash overconfident foes flat with a single blow."

Combat Information

  • Ranged attacks to the weak point (head/eye) cause massive damage and temporarily stun the creature.
  • If attacked from a great distance where you cannot be reached via range, the creature will back off and seek cover. If none is available, it will walk back and forth for a few seconds before standing still. This trivializes the risk of fighting as you can easily pick it off from a distance.
  • Area Attacks?
  • Ninjutsu tips
  • Confusion and attacks with heavy ki damage are effective.

  • Quick hooks : can do up to 3 quick punches. Range is short, but they are fast and damaging
  • Long hook : longer range
  • Jump attack : jumps forward and slams his fists on the ground. Has some aoe, it is slow, and leaves a decent opening for hits
  • Throw rock : done if you get far away.

Notes & Trivia

  • 鬼: Oni - Japanese folklore demons and devils, born from the souls of evil humans who have turned into Oni in the Buddhist hell. Sometimes, if a person is so malevolent and evil, they may turn into an Oni while alive.
  • Hitting this creature in the eye with a ranged attack awards the player with a small amount of Amrita.

A very easy fight for mobile low-stance characters. Just about every attack he uses leaves him vulnerable to back strikes if you can dodge behind him. Just don't get greedy when he does his double punch. 2 quick hits should leave you with enough time to avoid his next attack. If he throw out anything else however, get behind him and go to town.
